England physio Donna Gormley brings us up to date with news from the England camp - currently in the United States for the SheBelieves Cup. Its the day before our final game against France and were off to the training ground on the team bus for our last session before the match. Were in America for the SheBelieves Cup where we are playing the top three ranked teams in the world and we are now in our third city, Boca Raton, Florida, after starting in Tampa and moving onto Nashville. Its been a really enjoyable but busy camp for me, as physio, along with the rest of the staff. As it is still pre-season for our players, their bodies are getting used to more frequent games and flying to different cities. Toni Duggan celebrates her early opener for England Here at the SheBelieves Cup, weve only had two days between matches so weve focused on recovery strategies to make sure the squad is turned around and ready for the next game. This includes doing a lot of soft tissue massage, ice baths, gym recovery work and recovery pumps. Because its the first camp of the year and such a big tournament, there has been a real excitement in camp. Our medical team, which includes a doctor, two physios and two physical performance coaches set up a combined medical and sports science room in the hotel which allows us to all work really closely together. In the past fortnight, the room has had a real buzz about it and has been a bit of a hub for the players. Weve had a lot of sport on such as Premier League games and UFC which has kept the players occupied whilst having treatment. At training today Ill mainly be monitoring the session as well have done all of the pre-training preparation at the team hotel beforehand. After training recovery starts straight away as we want them to be in the best shape possible for a massive game against France. The players have a really good attitude to their recovery work as they know how important it is to their performance, which makes our jobs a lot easier. England midfielder Jordan Nobbs tackles USAs Tobin Heath during the SheBelieves Cup match on March 3, 2016 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa On match day, well do pre-match treatments at the hotel and in the stadium. Once the match starts, I sit on the bench next to the doctor and Im first on to assess should a player go down with an injury. On average, I would do about ten treatments a day, staggered at points throughout the day.I really enjoy making a difference to the players and there is nothing more satisfying than a fully-fit team or getting a player through an injury and rehab. Ive been with England for a year and a half and its been a great journey. It really is a great group of staff and players and we work hard and have a lot of fun on the road.I am really proud to be a Lioness staff member.
